asked the Minister for Education the number of primary schools in County Meath which had repairs or were newly built over the last five years; the amount it costs the taxpayer in each case; and the names of primary schools which have lost teachers under the Programme for National Recovery in County Meath.

The following are the national schools in County Meath in which teaching posts were discontinued at the end of the 1987-88 school year under the revised staffing arrangements agreed under the Programme for National Recovery.

The information sought by the Deputy as to the number of primary schools in County Meath which had repairs or were built new over the last five years is not readily available and as its compilation would involve the expenditure of an inordinate amount of official time, I am not prepared to divert staff for the purpose.
