The financial allocation for capital services under the Social Welfare Vote (No. 42) in the 1989 Book of Estimates is £1,875,000. The allocation provides for the purchase of computer and telecommunications equipment for my Department's countrywide telecommunications network and for the implementation of computerised systems in local offices. This will enable this Department to provide a convenient and personal service to clients at local level.
