It is intended that the sports centre in question be owned and operated by Westmeath County Council. This arrangement will also apply for the local authorities where other regional centres are being provided.
The Deputy I am sure will be aware that because of the nature and size of the project it was necessary to consult with the local authorities on a number of issues such as certain planning details, appointment of consultants etc.
Following a recent meeting my officials had with the Westmeath County Manager, I understand that architectural planning of the project will commence in the near future.
