In the case of legislation as described by the Deputy and for which I have responsibility the position is as follows:
(a) Abattoirs Act, 1988 — Before this Act can be implemented five sets of detailed regulations have to be introduced and full-time veterinary staff have to be recruited and trained. These matters are in hand. (b) Diseases of Animals Act, 1966 — There are some sections of the Act regarding the control of animal diseases which it has not yet been found necessary to invoke.
