asked the Minister for Finance in respect of the months August 1987 to August 1988, the moneys estimated to have been recovered as taxes due by the sheriffs appointed for revenue purposes; and, in particular, the amount recovered for each county.

I propose to circulate a table in the Official Report setting out the total amount paid over by each of the sheriffs in the twelve months ended on 31 July 1988. There is no breakdown available of the amounts relating to each county but the table indicates the counties for which each of the sheriffs is responsible. The total paid over in the year was approximately £45.5 million.
