asked the Minister for Justice if he has satisfied himself with the arrangements he has made regarding the provisions of adequate Garda security for the greater Tallaght area, Dublin 24; and if he has recently increased Garda numbers as has been requested by many individuals and community based organisations in this area.
I propose to take Questions Nos. 48 and 91 together.
The precise arrangements for the policing of individual areas are matters for the Garda authorities. Since last month three additional gardaí have been assigned to Tallaght station and an additional superintendent will be taking up duty there shortly. The Garda authorities assure me that Garda manpower requirements at Tallaght are kept under constant review to take account of the changing needs and circumstances of the area.
