Vol. 385 No. 1

Written Answers. - Free Secondary Education.

92.

asked the Minister for Education if any schools offering free secondary education operate entrance requirements; and the nature and authority for such requirements in each case.

Secondary schools recognised by my Department are conducted in accordance with the rules for secondary schools and other relevant official regulations. Subject to the provisions of such rules and regulations the authorities of the schools determine the conditions on which pupils are admitted to schools.

There is no departmental requirement of an entrance examination to secondary schools. Schools may for their own reasons decide to hold entrance examinations.
