The information requested by the Deputy, in so far as it is available, is given in the accompanying table. Data on unemployment rates is available on a planning region basis only.
This gives the total labour force, total live register, unemployment rate and percentage of unemployment in each of the planning regions. The region with the highest unemployment rate is the North-West and Donegal at 22.2 per cent, which accounts for 6.8 per cent of the total unemployed.
The unemployment rate in Dublin is 19.6 per cent. A detailed breakdown for the Dublin area is not available. The unemployment rate for the country as a whole in this analysis (August 1988) is 18.4 per cent, based on a total live register of 243,134. The current live register is 234,320.
