Vol. 386 No. 1

Written Answers. - Consultations with Planning Authorities.

189.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will outline the cases in the past five years in which he has used his powers under section 84 of the Planning Act, 1963, in respect of compliance with local authority development plans by State authorities undertaking construction works.

Section 84 of the Local Government (Planning and Development) Act, 1963, provides for consultation between State authorities and planning authorities prior to the construction or extension of buildings by State authorities. If there are any unresolved objections by the planning authority to the works proposed, section 84 provides for the State authority to consult on the objection with the Minister. Two such consultations have taken place in the past five years. Both related to proposals by the Office of Public Works, one in Sligo and the other in Letterkenny.
