Vol. 386 No. 1

Written Answers. - Pedestrian Overbridges.

216.

asked the Minister for the Environment if approval has been sought by Dublin County Council for the construction of two pedestrian overbridges in the Tymon Park at Tymon North, Tallaght, Dublin 24; if approval will be given to fund these two bridges which are essential in the interests of pedestrian safety; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

On 29 July 1986 a proposal was received from Dublin County Council for the provision of a pedestrian overbridge on the Tallaght Road to Greenhills Road section of the Western Parkway Motorway in the vicinity of Tymon North Park. On 6 October 1986 my Department indicated to the local authority that, in view of the lack of evidence to support the need for the provision of a pedestrian facility at this location and having regard to the proximity of the proposed Greenhills Road overbridge, the provision of a pedestrian overbridge was not approved for road grant purposes. The matter has not since been raised with the Department by the local authority.
