The school authorities did indicate in late 1988 their interest in Youthreach — the new scheme for unqualified early school leavers being mounted on behalf of the Departments of Education and Labour. Provision of programmes under the scheme will be the responsibility of agencies of these Departments, respectively the VECs and FÁS.
I understand that while the school has confirmed its interest in the scheme to the City of Dublin VEC it does not wish to run a programme in 1989 but would wish to co-operate with the VEC in identifying likely participants. The VEC is maintaining contact with the school regarding its interest in the scheme.
