Vol. 386 No. 4

Written Answers. - Tax Rebate.

65.

asked the Minister for Finance when payment of a tax rebate will be made to a person (details supplied) in County Cork; the reason for the delay in having payment issued; and if his attention has been drawn to the hardship involved due to this delay.

The Revenue Commissioners have advised me that the taxpayer's most recent claim to repayment of income tax on grounds of unemployment was made on 14 December 1988. A cheque in settlement of £148.88 was issued to him on 26 January 1989. Bearing in mind the intervention of the Christmas holidays, it is considered that there has not been any undue delay in this case. The taxpayer may continue to make claims at four-weekly intervals while he remains unemployed in the current year.
