Vol. 389 No. 4

Written Answers. - Free Electricity Allowance.

109.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will reinvestigate the case of a person (details supplied) in County Limerick who has had a free electricity allowance discontinued.

To qualify for a free electricity allowance a person must be in receipt of a qualifying payment and reside alone or only with persons who come within certain excepted categories.

According to the information available to my Department, the person concerned is residing with his son who does not come within the excepted categories for satisfying the living alone condition of the scheme. A local officer of my Department has, however, been asked to reinvestigate the case to establish the current composition of the household and when his report has been received, the case will be reviewed.
