Vol. 389 No. 7

Written Answers. - Water and Sewerage Schemes.

152.

asked the Minister for the Environment the present position regarding the application of the Droumulton/Gortglass group water supply scheme, County Kerry, for an increase in grant aid to make the scheme viable; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

State grants totalling £45,149 were allocated to this scheme in October 1988. In addition, a special contribution of £19,034 was approved in September 1988 in respect of the up-sized piping required by Kerry County Council. A request from Kerry County Council to review the amount of the special contribution was received on 2 May 1989 and is under consideration in my Department.

153.

asked the Minister for the Environment if the proposed sewerage scheme for Ardara, County Donegal, is being considered; the stage the planning has reached; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I would refer the Deputy to the reply to Question No. 33 of 9 April 1987. The position remains unchanged.

154.

asked the Minister for the Environment if a request has been received from Donegal County Council to finance the estuarial survey of Donegal Bay in connection with the proposed sewerage scheme for Donegal town; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Donegal County Council have been requested to seek tenders for the proposed survey of Donegal Bay and to submit the recommended tender to my Department in due course. The question of providing funds will be examined at that stage.
