asked the Minister for Health the reason he has not reappointed (i) the National Health Council whose term of office expired on 31 March 1988 and (ii) Comhairle na nOspidéal whose term of office expired on 30 September 1988; and the alternative arrangements he has made for the carrying out of the statutory functions of these agencies in the meantime.

I currently have the composition of both the National Health Council and Comhairle na nOspidéal under consideration having consulted with the appropriate nominating bodies in both instances.
As it is my intention to make appointments to these bodies in the near future, I have not deemed it necessary to make alternative arrangements as suggested by the Deputy.
