Vol. 390 No. 2

Written Answers. - Kilcormac Community Centre.

78.

asked the Minister for Education the total amount of moneys which were to be provided from national lottery funds to Kilcormac Development Association at Kilcormac, County Offaly, towards the building of Kilcormac Community Centre; if her attention has been drawn to the fact that £35,000 was promised and that to date only £18,000 has been paid; and to the fact that the failure to pay the total moneys promised is causing problems for this association; when the balance will be paid; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

A grant of £35,000 was allocated to Kilcormac Development Association, Kilcormac, County Offaly, in April 1988 for the completion of the community centre under my Department's capital grant scheme for the provision of recreational facilities. The central condition of this scheme is that grants can only be paid in respect of works executed by registered building contractors and on this basis a total grant of £19,105.88 has already been paid. The balance of £15,894.12 will be paid on receipt of certification that the further works which, it is understood, the Kilcormac Development Association propose to carry out, have been satisfactorily completed.
