Vol. 390 No. 4

Written Answers. - Dublin Area Taxi Plates.

78.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he has satisfied himself that there are enough taxi plates available in the Dublin area; if his attention has been drawn to the fact that at present a taxi plate is selling for £30,000; if, having regard to this high price, he will increase the number of taxi plates in the Dublin area; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

These matters are for Dublin Corporation which, under the terms of the Road Traffic (Public Service Vehicles) (Licensing) Regulations, 1978, have the power to determine the number of new public hire (taxi) licences for the Dublin taximeter area.
