Vol. 391 No. 6

Written Answers. - Farm Grants.

41.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when a farm development grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Meath.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the reason a beef premium has not been paid in full to a person (details supplied) in County Meath; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The person named has been paid his 1988 EC special beef premium, calf premium and suckler cow premium schemes grants.

43.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if he will pay a ewe premium to a person (details supplied) in County Meath; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Under the 1986 ewe premium scheme each applicant was required to maintain the number of ewes on which he had claimed premium for 100 days after 13 March 1987. It seems that the person named did not do this. He claimed that some 35 of the 100 ewes on which he had claimed premium had died or had been sold by him because they were barren but has produced no proof at all to this effect. If he does so and also produces evidence of the purchase of 30 replacement ewes, my Department will reconsider his claim.

44.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if an application for agricultural installation grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Wexford; and the present position in relation to the consideration of this application.

A detailed investigation which is required to determine the applicant's eligibility under the scheme is being carried out. If the applicant is found to be eligible, payment of the premium will be made in due course.

45.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the reason for the delay in payment of a land drainage grant for a person (details supplied) in County Waterford; and when payment will be made.

In order to comply with budgetary provisions, grants under the farm improvement programme are being paid in accordance with a strict scheduled allocation. Under this allocation it is unlikely that the grant in question can be paid for some weeks. There will, however, be no avoidable delay.
