asked the Minister for the Marine the number of personnel serving at sea in the Irish fishing fleet (a) on a full-time basis, (b) on a part-time basis for each year from 1980 to 1989.

There has been no sea fishing employment census carried out since 1986. At present, it is estimated that there are 3,800 men employed full time and 3,950 men employed part time on the board the Irish sea fishing fleet.
