Vol. 392 No. 1

Written Answers. - Johnstown Castle (Wexford) Staff.

131.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if he will make a statement on the present plight of all staff under Teagasc jurisdiction at Johnstown Castle, County Wexford as to whether any of them will be obliged to take redundancy or relocation against their will; and if he will honour previous commitments in this regard.

The position of Teagasc staff members some of whom are surplus to requirements at Johnstown Castle (and other locations) is under active consideration at present and a final decision has not yet been made in the matter. As the Deputy will be aware, the early retirement scheme in the public service operates on a voluntary basis.
