In accordance with the provisions of the EC directive, proposed mining development must be subjected to environmental impact assessment if it is likely to have significant effects on the environment. I understand, however, that no application has been made for planning permission for mining operations at the location in question, and that no application has been made to the Minister for Energy for a state mining lease in respect of that location.
