The working party referred to by the Deputy was established within my Department arising from the 1984 programme for action in education initiated by a previous Administration. This discussion group did not make a formal report.
The 1988 interdepartmental report on the review of policy for the provision of new replacement accommodation for primary and second level schools recommended inter alia“that the possibility of a common site for primary and second level accommodation, allowing for interchangeability, be examined”. The matter is being considered in my Department in the general context of the report's recommendations.
