Vol. 392 No. 4

Written Answers. - National Lottery Allocations.

146.

asked the Minister for the Environment the amount of money which he has received for disbursement from the surplus of the national lottery in the current financial year; if he will give details of projects he assisted from the national lottery in the current year; and if any of these expenditures are carried over from 1988 or payments to projects sanctioned in previous years.

A total of £3.377 million was spent by my Department from the national lottery revenue surplus in the period 1 January to 31 October 1989 as follows:

Public Library Service: £1.06 million.

Amenity Grants: £2.317 million.

The compilation of details of individual projects aided to date in 1989 would involve a disproportionate amount of staff time which would not be warranted. However, the National Lottery Company is updating a list of projects grant-aided from the lottery revenue surplus which will be available from them on request shortly.

While payments in 1989 would, for the most part, relate to allocations made before 1989, all liabilities maturing for payments in 1988 under schemes funded by my Department from the national lottery revenue surplus were paid by the end of that year.
