Vol. 392 No. 7

Written Answers. - Application for Residence Permit.

115.

asked the Minister for Justice if his Department has the passport of a person (details supplied) in Dublin 8; when the passport was taken; when the person was last interviewed; when his Department will contact the person concerned in connection with his application for a residence permit; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

There is no record that the passport of the person referred to in the question is being retained in my Department. The record does indicate that the person referred to in the question, whose permission to remain in the State had expired on 30 September 1987 was interviewed at my Department in October 1988. His application to remain in the State was considered and he was informed that permission to stay in this country was being refused. Records also indicate that he called to the Garda at Aliens Registration Office in February 1989 and that permission was also refused on that occasion.

The person referred to in the question has been instructed to leave the State in accordance with law.
