In the primary school area where there are 3,247 ordinary national schools, a remedial teaching service is provided to approximately 1,100 schools. It is not possible to establish from my Department's records the number of post primary schools which do not have the services of a qualified remedial teacher. Almost 300 ex-quota posts are available for remedial teachers while some 650 second level teachers have participated in the Department's course in remedial education.
