Vol. 393 No. 3

Written Answers. - Arva (Cavan) National School.

72.

asked the Minister for Education if, in view of her reply to Parliamentary Question No. 219 of 8 December 1987, in relation to Arva national school, County Cavan, she has received the tenders from the Office of Public Works; if so, the level of grant she is offering in order that the necessary improvements may be carried out to the school given the seriously overcrowded and draughty conditions and outdated sewerage facilities which exist in this school; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

My Department have sanctioned grants in respect of a number of improvement works to Arva national school, County Cavan, namely provision of ball court, blinds and gymnastic mats and remedial works to the roof. All these works have been completed except for the ball court which is practically completed.

My Department have not received any application from the school authorities for grant aid in respect of the further improvements referred to by the Deputy. On receipt of such application, my Department will consider the matter promptly.
