The 1988 Development Plan for Regional Airports provided for financial assistance from the Exchequer of £1.2 million for the development of Galway and Waterford Airports as follows: Galway, £187,500; Waterford, £1,012,500.
The regional airports at Farranfore, Sligo and Carrickfin, are also being grant-aided under the development plan.
Further development of the regional airport network is planned on the basis of financial assistance from the EC Structural Funds and a provision for this purpose has been included in the 1990 public capital programme which was published recently.
