I recently approved a proposal by Iarnród Éireann to adapt berth No. 3 at Rosslare Harbour to cater for a larger vessel to be used on the cross-channel route next year. This is one element of a business plan which is being prepared by Iarnród Éireann. Major development works are being incorporated in the plan with the objective of inter alia facilitating larger vessels with deeper draughts and allowing for a faster turn-around time for vessels. The portal developments are estimated to cost £13 million and are included in the National Development Plan for EC assistance.
