My Department have now completed negotiations, which have been in progress for some time, with union representatives involving the redeployment of additional staff to the National Library. These staff will take up duty very shortly. The opening of the library in the evenings and on Saturdays and the restoration of ancillary services including photocopying will then take place, as soon as possible, following the redeployments. I would like to thank the trade unions concerned for their co-operation which has facilitated these welcome developments.
