Vol. 393 No. 5

Written Answers. - School Package for Girls.

131.

asked the Minister for Education the number of schools in County Meath to which the package prepared at the curriculum development centre in Shannon, County Clare for introducing girls to traditionally non-female occupations was distributed by her Department.

The name of the programme was "Why Not" and it consisted of a video, resource material for classes and for meetings of parents. The programme was devised in conjunction with a number of schools mainly in the mid-west region. There were no schools from County Meath in the pilot group of schools.

Since its development the resource pack has been made available to all schools through Shannon Curriculum Development Centre at a cost of £2.50 for the resource pack and £10 for the accompanying video. There are no records for schools in County Meath availing of the material.

The material continues to be available through the Curriculum Development Centre Shannon.
