Vol. 393 No. 6

Written Answers. - Planting Schemes.

83.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will instruct the main local authority who have been given the task of organising planting schemes for the county road development throughout the country, to contact the chairperson of the Hardy Nursery Stock Group to work out a five-year plan on the amount of hardy nursery stock which would be required when these developments are complete, in order to avoid the importation of the required materials; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

No local authority has been assigned responsibility for organising planting schemes on road developments throughout the country. However, Dublin County Council is providing a specialist advisory service to a number of local authorities, on request, in relation to landscaping of road developments in their areas. I understand that the relevant official of Dublin County Council is in correspondence with the group concerned about arrangements for a meeting.
