Vol. 393 No. 7

Order of Business.

It is proposed to take No. 1.

I want to raise the reply to Questions Nos. 25 and 62 of yesterday. I asked to raise a matter on the Adjournment two weeks ago in connection with Aer Lingus and was told that the Government had no responsibility. Question No. 25, which is in my name, shows that the Government were involved. I wish to protest very strongly that I was denied my constitutional right to raise a matter in this House.

The Deputy has made a statement and an allegation which I will investigate very carefully.

Thank you. I will come back to the matter on Tuesday.

I will communicate with the Deputy in the matter.

In view of the resignation of the chairman of the Health Research Board and the threatened resignation of the chairman of the Legal Aid Board, does the Taoiseach propose to take any action to protect the services of these agencies and their status? Does he propose to stand by and see everything fall into ruin?

That does not arise now. It is not the appropriate time.

Does the Minister for the Environment propose to amend the Local Government (Multi-Storey Buildings) Act, 1988 in view of the continued refusal of the consulting engineering profession to operate the legislation?

It is hardly in order now.

The Minister for Finance and the Minister for Industry and Commerce are absent this morning. What is the position about Irish Steel in Cork? Is it to be taken over?

It is not in order now.

There is serious concern.

It may be a serious matter but you may not proceed with it.

Legislation will be involved in any change of ownership and there is considerable concern in the Cork region as to whether this deal will go through and about the type of deal it is.
