A payable order to the value of £3,967.20 for 1988 ewe premium issued to the person named on 17 November 1989, payment being made at the rate of £17.40 per ewe on each of the 228 eligible ewes found at inspection of his flock.
As regards the 1987 ewe premium, the person named applied for premium on 274 ewes but had 63 fewer at inspection and accounted for the disposal of only nine of these. He has failed to produce evidence of sale of 54 hogget ewes which he claimed had not turned out to be in lamb. Until he does so, my Department cannot be certain that these 54 ewes were disposed of for an acceptable reason and cannot pay 1987 ewe premium.
