Vol. 394 No. 1

Written Answers. - Cork Health Services.

199.

asked the Minister for Health if he will outline his proposals for the development of health services in the Cork city area; if it is his intention to provide any additional funding for the Mercy Hospital, Cork; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Responsibility for the development of health services in the Cork city area is primarily a matter for the Southern Health Board. I have written to the Chairman of the Southern Health Board and the Boards of the Mercy and South Infirmary-Victoria Hospitals proposing that a working group be established to prepare a plan for the development of hospital services in Cork city and county for the next decade. The question of providing additional funding for the Mercy Hospital, Cork will be examined in the light of the 1990 health allocations.
