Vol. 394 No. 1

Written Answers. - Dundrum (Dublin) Mental Hospital.

206.

asked the Minister for Health the use which is being made of the new unit built in the grounds of Dundrum Mental Hospital, Dublin 14; the building cost of the unit; and the security/maintenance costs incurred each year since its opening.

I have been informed by the Eastern Health Board that the unit referred to by the Deputy is being partly used for the benefit of in-patients of the Central Memtal Hospital. My Department are currently undertaking, in conjunction with the Eastern Health Board, a review of all aspects of the organisation of services at the Central Mental Hospital, including the future use of the new unit at that hospital. The building cost of the unit was approximately £2.8 million and the annual maintenance costs being incurred since the building was fully completed in 1986 are of the order of £3,500.
