Vol. 394 No. 2

Written Answers. - Sexually Transmissible Diseases Treatment.

96.

asked the Minister for Health if he is satisfied with the level of medical provision to treat sexually transmitted diseases in the Cork area and to prevent their increase; the funds which he has made directly and indirectly available to medical centres in Cork to promote this provision; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I am satisfied that the present level of medical provision for the treatment of sexually transmissible diseases in Cork is adequate to meet the demand for such services. An out-patient clinic is held at the South Infirmary, Victoria Hospital, twice a week. The pay and non-pay cost of this service, which is funded by the Southern Health Board was £17,400 in 1989.
