Written Answers. - Educational Achievement Tests.

147.

asked the Minister for Education the way in which the tests in use in Irish schools compare in content and scope with the scholastic aptitude test and the American college testing programme tests in use in American schools.

The American scholastic aptitude tests and college entrance tests are conducted for the purpose of predicting grade point averages in American colleges. The Irish tests differ from the American tests in nature and purpose. Generally, testing in Irish post-primary schools relates to curricular achievement.
