185 Mr. Noonan (Limerick East): asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if his attention has been drawn to a submission from Bord Na gCon that greyhound rearing be declared an alternative farm enterprise; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
I am considering the submission received from Bord na gCon in connection with the preparation of the operational programme for rural development which is provided for under the Community Support Framework. As the programme, including any proposals to promote alternative farm enterprises, must be negotiated with the EC Commission, I am unable to make a statement at this stage.
