Written Answers. - Naas (Kildare) Hospital.

Ceist:

377 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Health if he will sanction the implementation of the full development plan for Naas Hospital, County Kildare, in the current year, having particular regard to the needs of the population of the county; when he expects a contract to be awarded for the next phase of the development; the precise nature of this development stage; the cost of same; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

As the Deputy will be aware, the Naas Hospital is to be developed on a phased basis. Planning of the second and subsequent phases of the development will proceed as resources allow. The health capital programme for 1990 and subsequent years is currently being reviewed. While I appreciate and accept the importance of proceeding with the development, I am not yet in a position to say when the remaining phases of the development will proceed.
