85 Mr. O'Shea asked the Minister for Education if, in light of recent surveys carried out by St. Patrick's College of Education, Dublin 9, she has any proposals to take action to prevent a shortage of national teachers within three years; and if she will make a statement on the matter.
The question in relation to the supply of and demand for primary teachers taking cognisance of expected demographic trends are issues that are being examined by the Primary Education Review Body which will report to me later this year. In the meantime, my Department will continue to monitor the situation and will take account of all relevant information on the issue.
