Vol. 395 No. 1

Written Answers. - Beaumont (Dublin) Hospital Appointment.

Brendan Howlin

Ceist:

144 Mr. Howlin asked the Minister for Health the number of valid applications received by the closing date for the advertised position of consultant neurosurgeon, with experience in paediatrics, at Beaumont Hospital, Dublin 9; whether any late applications were received for this position; and whether any member of staff of Beaumont Hospital made contact with consultants abroad seeking applications for the position.

I am informed by the Beaumont Hospital authorities that no applications were received after the closing date.

Applications for the post were invited by advertisement published in the Sunday Independent and the British Medical Journal and the board have no information on any contact by any member of the staff of the hospital with any consultants abroad seeking applications for the position.

It is normal practice not to give information on the number of valid applications received for such competitions until such time as the interviews have been completed.
