Ceist:51 Mr. Kenny asked the Minister for Defence if he will make a statement on the reason for low flying jet aircraft over a populated zone (details supplied) in County Mayo; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

On 9 January 1990, two Fouga Air Corps aircraft were involved in flying training exercises out of Connaught Airport and were in the area about the time reported.
The Deputy can be assured that at no stage did the aircraft fly below 1,000 feet over any built up area or fly in such a manner as to cause any hazard to the general public.
