Vol. 395 No. 3

Written Answers. - Clonakilty (County Cork) Farm Development Office.

P. J. Sheehan

Ceist:

98 Mr. Sheehan asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if his attention has been drawn to the serious situation which has arisen in the Farm Development Office in Clonakilty, County Cork whereby 70 applications for farm improvement grants have been delayed pending the appointment of a typist to the office; and the steps he will take to fill this post and thereby alleviate the backlog of approvals which are to be typed.

One of the three clerical posts in the Farm Development Office in Clonakilty is temporarily vacant while a member of staff is on maternity leave. Due to current restrictions on staff recruitment it is not possible to assign temporary staff to the office. Overtime is, however, being made available in order to deal with the present backlog.
