104 Mr. Yates asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if a person (details supplied) in County Wexford is eligible for a milk quota, in view of the fact that he sold land with a milk quota in 1983-84; and if arrangements will be made to assist this person to regain his quota.
Under the terms of the national reserve set up to cater for producers who sold their land in 1983 or early 1984 the closing date for receipt of application from such producers was 13 January 1989. The press notices published emphasised that producers who did not apply to my Department by that date would render themselves ineligible to benefit from the reserve. As the application from the person named was not received in my Department until 27 April 1989 he was ineligible for an allocation from the reserve.
