54 Mr. Currie asked the Minister for Finance if, in relation to the Ordnance Survey Office, he will ensure the maintenance of the 1:2,500 series of maps in order to provide the level of service demanded by the public; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
I am satisfied that demands by the public in relation to maps such as the 1:2,500 series can be met either from the existing mapping stocked by the Ordnance Survey or by way of specific production of mapping related to properties identified by the public. Suitable fees will of course be charged for this service.
The Ordnance Survey have been requested to undertake field trials to test the application of new technology to the 1:2,500 series and the programme will be reviewed in the light of the results of these trials.
