The scheme was operated by the Department of Labour during the years 1985 to 1987. The amounts shown represent gross expenditure on the scheme in those years and would include an element of ESF assistance.
The operation of the scheme was taken over by FÁS on its establishment in 1988. Given FÁS accounting procedures, the 1988 and 1989 figures relate only to the Exchequer element and do not include ESF contribution.
The Exchequer allocation for 1990 will be published in the revised Estimates for Public Services.
