66 Mr. Connor asked the Minister for the Environment if he agrees with the joint proposal of Roscommon and Leitrim County Councils that a new bridge is needed to replace the defective and dangerous Hartley Bridge on the River Shannon; and, if so, if he will provide the necessary finance to commence the project in 1990.
I have received from Leitrim County Council a consultant's report on Hartley Bridge which considers options to improve the existing bridge or, alternatively, to replace it. The report is under consideration in my Department. A decision will issue to the local authority in due course as to the preferred scheme. A special grant of £100,000 has been notified to the local authority towards costs that may arise in 1990.
