Vol. 395 No. 6

Written Answers. - County Limerick Road Improvements.

Willie O'Dea

Ceist:

157 Mr. O'Dea asked the Minister for the Environment if he has received a request from Limerick County Council for a grant to enable road improvements to be carried out and a number of public lights to be provided at Lisnagry level crossing, County Limerick; if he will respond to that request in the near future; and if his attention has been drawn to the fact that a number of accidents, including at least two fatal accidents, have occurred at this location due to the lack of lighting and the structure of the road.

There are no proposals currently before my Department in relation to road improvements, or the provision of public lighting, on the National Primary Route N7 at Lisnagry level crossing. The development of any proposals for road improvements at this location is a matter in the first instance for the local authority, in consultation with the Department and Iarnród Éireann. On receipt of such proposals in the Department the question of road grant funding will be considered.
