Vol. 395 No. 6

Written Answers. - Castleknock (Dublin) Schools.

Austin Currie

Ceist:

202 Mr. Currie asked the Minister for Education if she will give a breakdown by school and numbers of pupils leaving primary schools in Castleknock, Dublin 15, in each year up to 1996; the post-primary schools in which she expects a sufficient number of non fee-paying places being available for pupils from the Castleknock area up to 1996; and the number of places in each of these schools.

The statistical data at primary level requested by the Deputy is set out in the attached table which I propose to circulate in the Official Report.

As pupils in a major urban or suburban area are not confined to any particular school catchment area, it would neither be feasible nor appropriate to attempt a precise identification of post-primary places available by school.

The overall position regarding available post-primary accommodation in areas adjoining and accessible to the Castleknock area, and information from the various post-primary school authorities in the adjoining areas indicate that there is adequate accommodation to serve the needs of the Castleknock area.
