Vol. 395 No. 6

Written Answers. - Bar on Headage Payments.

John Connor

Ceist:

130 Mr. Connor asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if his decision to abolish the off-farm income bar on livestock headage payments in all cases in 1990 is still in force; the number of additional applicants who will benefit; and the cost of this extension.

My decision to abolish the off-farm income limit under the disadvantaged areas headage schemes for 1990 stands. The number of additional applicants who will benefit is of the order of 20,000 to 22,000 and the cost to the Exchequer of abolishing the limit is estimated to be about £4.2 million net in a full year.
